Pressure? Courts refuse to hear Imran Riaz Khan’s plea

Interestingly, all courts and magistrates have refused to entertain Imran Riaz Khan’s bail plea.
Some staff reached the Islamabad High Court last night following journalist Imran Riaz Khan’s arrest.
Wednesday’s 10 AM was fixed for hearing of his case. After hearing for hours, the Capital’s court ruled that the area where Imran Riaz Khan was arrested doesn’t come under the jurisdiction of the Islamabad High Court. Imran Riaz Khan was arrested at Islamabad toll plaza.
Imran was kept at a police station in Attock last night. Following refusal by Islamabad High Court to hear his plea for bail, the case was shifted to Attock’s district magistrate where Imran’s plea for appeal was not accepted following more than an hour-long hearing on grounds that the Islamabad toll plaza doesn’t come under the Yasir Tanvir-led district court’s jurisdiction.
Court reporter Siddique Jan tweeted, “The SHO present at the gate of Attock Court says that we have been ordered from above not to allow the media to enter the courtroom,” adding that the SHO did not want to name the superiors he is being commanded by.
During his arrest, Imran blamed all that is being done to him on brigadier Rashid Naseer.
Posted in Lahore as a Sector Commander of Pakistan’s premier ISI, Brigadier Rashid Naseer is alleged to be a notorious character using his public position to influence election manipulation in favor of the PDM alliance.
Following refusal by the Attock magistrate, Imran was presented in Rawalpindi court where the magistrate immediately asked the police, “I am not your magistrate, why have you brought it before me?” In the end, the district magistrate again referred the case to the Attock magistrate.
Siddique Jan tweets, “Imran Riaz Khan’s case is going to be the first case in the history of Pakistan in which the accused will be produced before 3 magistrates in 24 hours.”
Imran Riaz Khan is again transferred to Attock by a 10-vehicle police contingent. At the court, Imran Riaz Khan’s Vlogs were run in the courtroom, in an effort to point out anti-military content. However, they failed to find any such thing. So the Attock court released him after taking hours to announce the decision.
Immediately after his acquittal from Attock, Chakwal police arrested Imran Riaz Khan.
