Asma Shirazi quote retweets fake image of flooded BRT Peshawar

Aaj News’ journalist Asma Shirazi quotes retweets a flooded New York City Subway to prove that the BRT Peshawar is not different from the mismanagement of PPP in Karachi.

In a quote retweet to a post with an image of a flooded station that says, “Glimpse of award-winning BRT Peshawar in rain”, Asma Shirazi writes “These are scenes from Peshawar. It’s painful, be it from Karachi or Peshawar.”

The journalist tried to conflate Karachi’s urban flooding with imaginary rain effects at BRT Peshawar.
However, the image of a post by a Twitter account handle @AliGunjai is that of a New York Subway station from Sep 22, 2021.
BRT Peshawar has been the recipient of multiple international awards. Transport Ticketing Global awarded the Bus service with the “Best Smart Ticketing Program”.
The Zardari-family-led Sindh government has been under severe criticism on social media for its failure to devise a strategy for overcoming the urban floods Pakistan’s economic hub Karachi goes through every year.
Every year, due to a lack of early preparation or measures by the government rains bring about urban floods, leading to loss of life, property & economy.
Sindh has been under the Zardari family for over a decade but has paid no heed to the issue.
Punjab too was faced with the issue of rainwater piling up on the roads & causing harm.
The then-Usman Buzdar-led Punjab constructed underground water storage tanks for rainwater to overcome the issue within his 4-year term as CM.

Asma Shirazi is known as partisan towards the PDM & PMLN in particular.
Earlier, she visited London to meet absconding former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif.
